The Evermore Centre (The Evermore Centre) offers comprehensive support and education services through all stages of the adoption process.  Whether you are a birth parent exploring options, a prospective parent looking into adoption, an adoptee seeking reunion or support or anywhere in between.

The The Evermore Centre is currently looking to fill the role of Executive Director.  The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the operations of the office as well as engaging with stakeholders, the Board and the community.  Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, this position requires strong leadership in an evolving environment.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Effectively communicates the vision and mission of the The Evermore Centre to the community and stakeholders
  • Professional and well-spoken, representing the The Evermore Centre to a broad range of audiences, including engagement in opportunities to speak with the media
  • Communicates and initiates actions within the organization, leading and engaging staff and the Board as it relates to service delivery, human resources and strategic planning
  • Develops and monitors written reports, applications, policy and procedures
  • Ensures protocols and mechanisms are in place to support effective organizational communications, including remotely to reach Board members and staff located across the province NOTE: During the pandemic, the office is being managed virtually and the ED must monitor and incorporate current public health guidelines

Connection / Relationships:

  • Works closely with government and community stakeholders
  • Advocates provincially and federally for permanency objectives and understands the complexities affecting children, youth and families
  • Collaborates and partners on collective initiatives that support the mandate of the The Evermore Centre
  • Demonstrates commitment to a diverse, culturally competent and safe environment
  • Represents the The Evermore Centre at events that may occur outside regular office hours


  • Managerial experience - handles all internal operations, office management, financial reporting
  • Recruits, selects and employs staff, holding primary responsibility for human resource management including the advancement or termination of positions in consultation with the Board of Directors
  • Ensures compliance with the organizational vision, policy, legislation and funding requirements
  • Establishes and leads a high-performance team to meet objectives while fostering a positive workplace
  • Address internal and external complexities impeding service delivery
  • Supports, supervises, evaluates and develops direct reports

Funding / Grants:

  • Identifies and lobbies appropriate funders, submitting proposals and grant applications
  • Prepares complex submissions and proposals
  • Maintains strong balanced relations with all funders, including government agencies
  • Strong background in fundraising to diversify income sources
  • Creative and open to ideas for growing and enhancing funding streams


  • Strong understanding of expense management
  • Ensures operating and capital budgets are developed and approved by the Board of Directors
  • Institutes management controls as appropriate and administers funds in keeping with budgets
  • Knowledge in accounting software (QuickBooks) and understands financial reporting processes and documentation to ensure timely financial and other reporting
  • Responsibilities include bill payments, payroll, annual audit preparation and banking

Board Engagement:

  • Ensures the Board is fully informed regarding The Evermore Centre operations and provides reports as the Board may require
  • Communicates effectively with a province-wide Board of Directors
  • Engages regularly with the Chair of the Board and actively participates in monthly, evening Board meetings
  • Executes the Board’s directives in lobbying efforts, in building partnerships and maintaining government relations


Professional Qualifications:

  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Effective public speaking skills
  • Strong independent and group work ethics
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors is considered an asset
  • Experience working within a non-profit is considered an asset
  • Knowledge surrounding adoption and permanency is considered an asset
  • Willingness to take on tasks as assigned by the Board of Directors
  • Possess strong IT skills
  • Familiar with WordPress and knowledgeable when discussing and integrating electronic operational formats
  • Experience managing/completing business financials
  • 5-8 years Management experience
