Our New Name
We are happy to share that we have changed our name to “The Evermore Centre”. The word “evermore” is a synonym for “forever, always”, and it reflects our organization’s focus on fostering permanent homes that create well being & long term stability for children. Permanency is an expansive term, with many important factors. Our previous name, Adoption Support Centre of Saskatchewan, no longer represents the breadth of work we do to support all forms of permanency, including adoption, but also legal guardianship and kinship care.

Indigenous Storytelling

In honour of Storytelling month, The Evermore Centre is pleased to announce an in-person, collaborative event with the Saskatoon Indian & Metis Friendship Centre! Elder Sanford Strongarm Sr. will guide the storytelling session through various stories and experiences. This event creates a space for connecting to families built through adoption, foster care, kinship care, and PSI agreements and honors traditional cultural ways of bringing family together. Enjoy soup and Bannock prepared by SIMFC. All ages are welcome!
Family Craft Night (2 days): Indigenous Medicine Bag
March 19, 2024 - March 21, 2024
For families grown through PSIs, Kinship, Guardianship, Foster Care, and Adoption. Come out for two nights of fun and learning with Jasmyn Albert and the Evermore Team. A chance to learn about Indigenous teachings while you make your own beaded or painted medicine bag! Everyone is welcome and the medicine bag can be customized to accommodate all ages. Please note that this is a two day event, Tuesday, March 19 and Thursday March 21 from 6-8pm. Snacks & drinks are provided.
Peyakôskân (One Nation) Family Gathering in Regina
April 13, 2024
Please join us for a day for the entire family, filled with interesting and fun activities. The workshop is focused on families grown thru PSI, kinship, guardianship, adoption and foster care. The morning session will divide the parents/caregivers into one group and the children/youth into another, allowing for open discussion and learning for each. The parent group will learn about loss and how it manifests and then focus on how to parent through these challenges. The children’s/youth group will focus on addressing and understanding their feelings. Both groups will include an Indigenous perspective. Lunch will be provided to socialize and connect with other families. After lunch, we will start with a session on supporting families and Indigenous culture and then we will conclude with an Indigenous craft – making talking sticks – fun for all ages!
Rapid Access Counselling
At The Evermore Centre, we have recognized a need for counselling in our office through our “Your Opinion Matters” survey. In response, we have partnered with Family Service Saskatoon to provide phone, virtual, and in-person FREE Rapid Access Counselling out of our office at 527 Main Street in Saskatoon.

"Strengthening Our Families: Round Dance" is an inclusive event that brings together diverse communities to celebrate the power of family, unity, and resilience. Rooted in the tradition of Round Dances observed by many Indigenous cultures, this intercultural gathering aims to foster a sense of belonging, understanding, and shared humanity among participants from all walks of life.

Cultural Awareness
Fostering your child's cultural identity is imperitive in building a positive sense of identity and well-being.
Attachment and Bonding
These are important topics when discussing adoption placements. Many children who are eligible for adoption through the domestic adoption program have experienced trauma.
What is adoption?
Adoption is the process through which a child becomes a legal, permanent part of a family through the application and approval of parental guardians.
Who can adopt a child or children?
- The applicant must be at least 18 years of age or over
- Single, married or common law with or without bio-children
- Any race or ethnicity
- Any gender identity or background
What are some of the requirements?
The applicant must be willing to:
- Participate in the DAO (Domestic Adoption Orientation) through The Evermore Centre
- Participate in PRIDE training (Parent Resource for Information Development & Education
- Participate in the MFA (Mutual Family Assessment/Home Study) process with a Ministry Adoption Worker
- Provide a current Criminal Record and Child Welfare Background check
- Provide basic needs and necessities to a child
How long does the adoption process take?
The length of time it takes to adopt a child varies and depends on a wide variety of factors. Applicants who are willing to support older children, sibling groups, or children with complex needs will be prioritized. First Nations and Métis families interested in adoption are prioritized as there is an ongoing need for Indigenous and Métis resource families.
What is the cost of adopting?
Domestic (Saskatchewan) adoptions are funded through the provincial government Ministry of Social Services. However, there are some small fees along the way, such as the fee for the Domestic Adoption Orientation (DAO) program we provide at The Evermore Centre.
Independent and international adoptions are not funded through the Ministry. Independent adoptions will incur Home study/PRIDE training and legal fees. In addition to the above, international adoptions will also incur costs such as agency fees, travel fees, immigration fees etc.
Who oversees all adoptions in Saskatchewan?
The Ministry of Social Services oversees all adoptions in Saskatchewan, including domestic, independent, and international. Learn more about the types of adoption.
