What is The First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Settlement?
The First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Settlement provides compensation to First Nations individuals who, while under the Age of Majority, were removed from their homes between April 1, 1991, and March 31, 2022, by Child Welfare Authorities. It also provides compensation to First Nations Children who experienced a delay, denial or gap in in receiving essential services and who had a Confirmed Need for those services between April 1, 1991, and November 2, 2017.
Certain eligible Caregiving Parents or Caregiving Grandparents of these Children will also be compensated through the Settlement.
